Thanks for the lovely stay! Although we are frequent visitors to the great Northwoods of Minnesota, this was our first time at Bearskin. What a lovely place to hold a family get-together. I hope work and school schedules allow us to return often.

Time to leave tomorrow with memories of shooting stars, a moose sighting, a big red fox, flowers and a mouse, hummingbirds, oh yeah–many chipmunks and loons. Until next time…

Our first time here and what a lovely place! So peaceful and friendly. Enjoyed the cry of the loon, the hummingbirds at our feeder, the daily visits of the Gray Jays, the chipmunks and the squirrel. The jays helped themselves to grapes from our deck table set for supper. Kids loved that!

I am the 5th generation of my family to come to Bearskin and I can’t get enough of the place! I’ve been coming here since I was 2 years old. This place is like heaven on earth. PS—if you play on the floating dock, don’t scream — you can be heard for miles.

Our first time on the Gunflint Trail with its spectacular overviews was truly awesome. Just to sit on the deck or by the beach and think on God’s beautiful creation was inspiring. Hikes on the nearby trails heightened our wonder at the great variety of that creation.

I feel very blessed to be able to spend this week with family, appreciating the comfy lodge amidst the wonder beauty of the Northwoods. Memories galore! We appreciated your gift of bread—thanks!

We’ll always remember our kayak rides over to visit the mother moose and her baby –enjoyed watching them from afar

Personally I thought the steam rising off the lake was breathtaking.
I will definitely be back. -
Juvenile bald eagle flew over our heads and we watched it for a bit. Huge 6-7 foot wingspan.

There are no words to describe the awesome time that was spent here at #1. The weather was perfect; saw our first moose since coming here for 4 years.

We had a great time at BSL. We saw a beaver, woodchuck, moose and a loon. We’ve been canoeing fishing, hiking, swimming, Yesterday we went on a 14 mile canoe trip to Johnson Falls. Last summer we stayed at the campground and this year friends came with us to stay here. BSL is SOOOOOO fun! Mary & Molly, age 12.

It’s been a glorious 3rd ten year reunion week, filled with fun, excitement and challenge for our group. The fellowship in the northwoods will always be memorable. We hiked, geo-cached, biked, fished, paddled and portage, drank, ate! S’mored, hot tubbed and reminisced all week, much of this made possible by the great staff at Bearskin and facilities. We actually saw a moose! And he posed for us. We got to see gorgeous views of the area… We were used to camping but have decided we would rather “lodge it.’ Bearskin was the greatest place for us. We enjoyed every minute.

No phone & TV is a precious gift to really escape.

This was a first time at Bearskin Lodge and we love it! Our kids caught our first fish (first 7, actually!) and we tried kayaking for the first time. We can see why people love it here. We saw more stars than anywhere else. It was great to get away from the consumer culture of many vacations and to focus on the natural world instead of consuming. Until next year…

Thought I would die without my cell phone, but it turns out I don’t really need it.

Each day we found special places to relax and enjoy ourselves around Bearskin. We loved the view from our picture window and had great moonrises each night… I loved the quiet of no TV and the hot running water and comfy beds after the good outdoor days.

What a wonderful lodge. You provide so many amenities—sauna and whirlpool, activities for the children, beach area, private docks, and lovely facilities. We saw three otters today.
