Spalding Mine Trip
Experience
a piece of the Gunflint Trail's brief mining history
with a visit to the Spalding Mine. This route is possible as a
day trip with a
tow down East Bearskin Lake, but most will find this a suitable
distance for a
three day base camp trip. Highlights include the mine site
itself, cliffs on Alder and the beautiful, clear water on
Crystal.
If you have the time, hike to Johnson Falls, one
of the most beautiful waterfalls in the BWCA.
