Rose Falls Trip

The trip to Rose
Falls over the Stairway Portage is one of the most popular in the
eastern BWCA, and for good reason. An easy day trip, start at
West
Bearskin (our outfitters is on East Bearskin) and paddle to Duncan
lake. At the end of Duncan you reach the famed Stairway
Portage. The portage consists of about seventy steps, and it was
originally built as a CCC project. The portage can be grueling on
the way back, but the spectacular views overlooking Rose and the falls
themselves are well worth it.
