Bearskin Lodge News | September 30, 2013

Fall color has arrived late on the Gunflint Trail this year. The last weekend in September is often the weekend when our color peaks.  Like most Minnesota seasonal changes in 2013, autumn seems to be on a delayed schedule this year.  The leaves are definitely turning colors, but the best is yet to come.

Most of our cabins are booked now for fall through mid-November but there are a few scattered weekend and weekday openings left.   If your dates work right you might still be able to book a fall getaway to Bearskin.  Give us a call.

Our Work Weekend is full this year.  Trail Work Weekend is a tradition we all enjoy, so we’ll do it again in 2014.  Watch for info about the dates on our web page, and then book a spot early as it does fill up.  It’s an inexpensive, fun way to enjoy a Bearskin trip.

Moose Weekend, November 1st – 3rd, sponsored by SaveMinnesotaMoose.org and Bearskin Lodge, has one opening available in Cabin 3.  Given the most recent info released about the moose study, this should be a fascinating weekend.  Call us now if you want to snag that last available cabin.

Value Season & November Specials Fall Value Season rates, the lowest rates of every year at Bearskin, start on October 6 and last through December 12.  It’s a great way to visit Bearskin during the quiet season at an economical price.

We’re also offering a Newsletter Special for any Monday – Thursday night in November:  Make a new reservation for 3 nights, get your 3rd night for free.  We do this special almost every year, and it’s often used by people who need uninterrupted time to complete some work:  finish writing a book, wrap up a thesis, plan out a project.  Not every cabin is available on every date for this special, due to our November deep cleaning schedule.  Escape to the Gunflint, and get something done.

Canoes for Sale | Fall Canoe Trips BWCAW permits are free in the fall after October 1.  You don’t need to book a permit online; we can just provide you with a permit at the Lodge.  Autumn can be an excellent time to take a canoe trip, as long as you are well prepared for cooler weather.  Call our outfitters at (800) 338-4170, or check out the Bearskin Outfitters website, for fall trip planning expertise.  We rent Sat Phones!  Take a little worry out of your cool weather trip.

Quinn will be selling a large number of 2 – 3 year old Kevlar outfitting canoes this fall.  He has Souris River Quetico, Wenonah Spirit II, and Nighthawk Leo tandem canoes available, priced between $1375 – $1650. Email outfitters@bearskin.com for a complete list.   We hope to see you at beautiful Bearskin in your favorite season!
