Employment Opportunities At Bearskin Lodge
Bearskin Lodge is the premier family resort located on the famous Gunflint Trail, about 26 miles from the town of Grand Marais, MN. We are on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Right out our door are a million and a half acres of pristine lakes and rivers. Our facilities are the best available. It takes much hard work by dedicated staff to maintain the quality of service our guests have come to expect. If you are interested in joining the Bearskin staff, we would like to hear from you! Fill out our job application and forward it to us. The application is found linked to our home page.

General Staff Information:
Bearskin Lodge employs about 8 year round staff members and about 8 seasonal staff members. Staff work about 35 to 45 hours per week. Long-term employment at Bearskin is possible for the right person. All our staff are required to be flexible and have cross training in other areas than their main job. We all help out when and where it's needed. Staff housing offers full kitchen and bathroom facilities.  Facilities and equipment are available free to staff and includes canoes, fishing boats, staff dock, bikes, cross country skies, snowshoes, sauna, etc. Computer, printer, and internet are available for a small monthly charge.

Current employment needs:

We have completed our hiring for summer, 2008 and have a fabulously talented staff lined up.  However, when most of this group returns to college at the end of the summer we may be hiring again.  If positions that last all year interest you, or if you are a college student who needs to take some time off for two semesters or more, please fill out the application and contact us. Be sure to clearly note that you are looking for fall employment so we hold onto your application longer.

Housekeeping  - We are extremely proud of our housekeeping team. The superior condition and cleanliness of Bearskin cabins and lodges is the key to our success. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals who can work quickly, alone or in teams, and take pride in a job well done.

Front Desk Front desk staff are our main contact with the public. We are looking for friendly and organized people to maintain our excellent guest service. Duties include taking reservations, checking in and out guests, answering questions, and running the cash register. A well-groomed appearance is necessary.

Maintenance - Duties include upkeep of the buildings, equipment and grounds. Work depends on the season, but generally in the summer involves getting boats and canoes, grass cutting, painting, trail work, garbage removal, and miscellaneous projects. Winter brings snow removal, cabin maintenance, skating rink upkeep, cross-country trail grooming, providing firewood, and more miscellaneous projects. Individuals applying for these positions need to be able to work with minimal supervision, be able to do some heavy lifting, operate equipment like lawn mowers, weed whips, snow blowers, and like to occasionally get really dirty.

Naturalist  - This positions require some expertise in the respective area. Contact Bearskin Lodge for more information.
