midway up the Gunflint Trail, Bearskin Lodge features canoeing, cross
country skiing, hiking, swimming, fishing and family fun in a pristine
wilderness setting
on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe
Area Wilderness (BWCAW).
What will you find at Bearskin Lodge? Privacy in a wilderness setting. Secluded cabins deeply nestled in white pines and birch trees. Immaculate lodges and cabins in many price ranges, from classic to luxury. A healthy, active family-friendly environment.
What won't you find at Bearskin Lodge? You won't find video games, television or telephones in any of our accommodations. While options for communication are easily available in the Main Lodge, our goal at Bearskin is for you to experience the richness of the wilderness while in the comfort of our beautiful resort cabins and lodge units. Nor will you find the corporate environment that defines an increasing number of resorts these days; Bearskin is a family-run business, big enough to offer everything you need yet small enough to know your name. When you are a guest a Bearskin Lodge, you become part of our Bearskin family.
Each secluded Bearskin Lodge on the Gunflint Trail cabin is surrounded by the woods, separated from the other cabins. No mowed lawns here; you are very much in the Northwoods. Our eleven beautiful log and frame cabins and our four Main Lodge townhouses feature cozy fireplaces or wood stoves, fully supplied kitchens, and private
docks,
all perfect for making memories. Private use of the hot tub house and
sauna are always part of your Bearskin package.

Old friends reunite. Fishing lines are baited and the thrill of a fighting trophy dances in the minds of adults and children alike. Swimming, canoeing and lazy afternoons go hand in hand.
Spend your winter vacation with us and you will discover that it is a very special time of year in the north country. Snow comes early to Bearskin and stays late, resulting in an extended cross country ski season – an old-fashioned, real winter like you remember “winter used to be.” Moose can often be seen from our trails, foraging for food. Watch for the winter tracks of wolves, lynx, otters, pine martens and snowshoe hares. You'll soon see why Bearskin Lodge has become a winter ski destination unlike any other in the Upper Midwest. Bearskin has more than 70 km of expertly Pisten Bully and G2 groomed trails. Our groomers are also excellent skiers who understand how significant good trail grooming is to the quality of the ski experience.
Spring and autumn might be the best kept secrets on the Gunflint Trail. The air is crisp and cool, just right for holding hands and hiking though the woods before cuddling up in front of a crackling fire at the end of a romantic day. Knowledgeable travelers appreciate the lower Mid-Season and Value Season rates, peaceful trails, and incomparable wildlife viewing unique to these quieter seasons on the Gunflint Trail.

Winter at Bearskin Lodge Journey
into the BWCA and the Superior National Forest by dog sled with
Bearskin's musher, Erik Simula. Dog sledding will be
available on weekends and on most weekdays this year at Bearskin.
Or reserve time with Erik for your own private mushing
instruction. Advance reservations for trips and classes strongly

Have a winter
wonderland getaway at beautiful Bearskin Lodge. We offer
packages in many price ranges that can include a lantern-lit sleigh
ride through the woods, complimentary ski trail passes, fine dining,
and a dog sled ride. See our specials page to
choose the winter escape that's right for you. Sleigh ride
packages must include one of the following dates: January 21,
February 4, February 18, and February 25. Subject to availability.
